The Bay of Javea

Located in the Costa Blanca to the North of Spain, The Bay of Javea is a fantastic place to live and visit. But what makes it so special?

A small and historic town, the vibe in the Bay of Javea is definitely one of relaxed and timeless beauty. It is free from high rise buildings, which gives some perfect views of the wonderful natural scenery that surrounds it.

It is perfectly located between San Antonio and La Nao, as well as being 1 hour 30 minutes away from Alicante. This means that whilst you get to escape into the real heart of the Costa Blanca, you are never too far aware from the hustle and bustle of the busier areas.

The history

There is plenty of history to be found in Javea. Particularly in the old town. Here you will find some fine examples of traditional architecture including gothic bay windows, balcony railings and lots of Tosca stone too.

The religious nature of the area is also evident here, with the churches and the monasteries that are to be found within the mountains that surround Javea.

Things to see

When you come to a place like the Bay of Javea, you may think that there isn’t likely to be things to see and do. But you would be mistaken. For those that love the idea of a local market, then the centre of town has a covered indoor market. Here you will find a variety of amazing produce. This includes fruit, vegetables and meat, as well as fresh fish that have been caught in the port and brought into the market to be sold.

One of the most focal points of the area has to be the port. Known as Aduans De Mar it not only is a fantastic place to look at some of the most interesting, expensive and impressive yachts that you are likely to see, but also some delicious fish and seafood restaurants that are ready to showcase the catch of the day for you to try.

Things to do

Who doesn’t love the idea of being able to relax on the beach? Those who live and visit the Bay Of Javea will find that the Arenal area is the best place to head if you are looking for a family friendly beach. Not only is there gorgeous golden sands here, but there are also play areas for kids and plenty of bars and restaurants offering amazing food and drink for you to sample.

If you are not a huge fan of sitting around on the beach, then there are also sporting activities a plenty to be found here. Some of the most popular include windsurfing and scuba diving. However there is also golf, horse riding, sailing and of course fishing.

Whether you stay for a few weeks or you stay forever, the Bay of Javea is definitely a place that you need to see to believe, and after just one visit, we are sure you will fall in love with its natural charm!

Javea Port

The area of Javea Port is very popular for residents and tourists as it is perfect for year round living with all shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance.This area is also preferred by wealthy Spanish families from Madrid, Barcelona & Valencia to have their holiday homes. In July and August it is very busy as a lot of people travel specifically to be part of the Moors and Christians celebrations and the Port has a magnificent parade with lots of activities throughout the celebratory week. Click here to see the Javea Fiestas schedule.

Walking through the Port with its narrow streets you will find a variety of shops Tapas bars and very good restaurants. Cala Bandida is located alongside the marina and has amazing views across the bay with its turquoise colour sea. The menu here is very good and varied. There are also some good hotels in this area with the Hotel Javea being very good value and it has a very good restaurant on its top floor with stunning views across the Bay of Javea. The local Church is shaped like a fishing boat and is located at the far end of the Port.  There is also the marina where you can watch the boats come in and buy your fish – you won’t get it any fresher than this.

There is a Tourist Information Centre in Javea Port which offers guided (theatrical) tours of the port during the whole year.

If you are looking to purchase property in this area, the most popular demand are Pent House Apartments for sale in Javea, with the most popular urbanisations being Puerto Real, Florida Mar, Golden Port and Jardines del Mar as these are all within a short walk to all amenities and the La Grava Pebble Beach. If you are looking to purchase Villas for sale in Javea Port there are some luxury urbanisations such as La Corona, Cuesta san Antonio which give stunning views over the Bay of Javea. There are also villas for sale in Puchol, which is another very desirable area, a little bit further away but also giving you the most spectacular sea views.
